Logo for Posey Royale
Posey Royale, led by James Posey, is a jazz quintet based in the Asheville, NC area. For this 2019 project, James wanted a logo featuring a peacock, that not only captured the regalness of the beautiful birds, but also their strength. The look in the peacock’s eyes says it all—“I am beautiful, but don’t underestimate me!”
This logo looks great on a small scale for use on merchandising, and looks especially grand for the fronts of the music stands. The ‘PR’ on the bird’s chest is a custom-made type treatment, where the curls on the letters are made from the curls of a bass clef. This shape also appears in the tail feathers, and a whole bass clef can be seen on each side of the crown. Even more music symbols are referenced in the peacock’s head feathers, which are made from the bottom part of a treble clef.
